How the Cell Phone has Changed our Lives The cell phone, or mobile phone, has become a large part of our American culture. You see them wherever you go, and in the hands of every group dynamic. This technology seems to have appeared overnight, and it is probably going to be with us for a very long time. They are used for both personal and business demand, and have an interesting future as well. Our lives have changed quite dramatically with the invention of the cell phone, with both good and arguably bad results. Just where did the cell phone come from? Due to this new process the ANAR Child Abuse Hotline had gained a new means of communicating to the younger generations. In the advertisement by Fernando Riveros, Matias Lopez Najavas and Maria Salomon, it shows a little boy around the age of seven to ten. In the adults’ view, there seems to be nothing wrong, except with the boys’ solid face. He looks like something is wrong. The message along with the adults’ view is â€Å"Sometimes child abuse is only visible to the child suffering it.† This message is only visible to persons whom are four feet, five inches and above. But, with the child’s view, the advertisement takes a turn for the worse. In the child’s view, the little boy has bruises on his right cheek/jaw and lip. The message for t he younger generations is â€Å"If someone hurts you, phone us and we’ll help you.† The child’s view can only be seen at four feet, five inches and below. My Friend Andrea Essay Most of the time people think that having a true friend is not possible. I am one of the people who think that having a true friend is possible. Andrea is the first person I met when I arrived to Chicago, looking as lost and lonely as I did. She was the first person who approach me and started a conversation. Even though we are so different in appearance and personality, we recognized how similar we were. It was in the cafeteria where I met her. I was drinking coffee when suddenly she walked through the cafeteria. I will never forget that day because it was a very special day for me. Andrea, is a very passionate, bright individual who has fought against her family stereotypes and family gender roles just as me. I admire her for that particular reason. It is hard to go against your whole family to defend your beliefs. However, all that admiration at times contradicts it self. Is hard to understand how a person who is so lovely and confident can be so insecure of herself. Andrea is a young bright individual. She is full of life and is always finding a solution to her problems. She has long dark hair and two big brown eyes who tend to look smaller due to her glasses. She has fair skin with a few freckles on her cheeks. She is tall, and a little large. She used to be thin and sporty, but after high school she left many of her favorite hubbies behind and dedicated herself in full to school, and to accomplish her dreams. She wanted to prove her parents that she could do anything she set her mind to, and she did. But when she finally stopped and took a breath, she realized she had left many things that made her happy behind. She was indeed proving her parents wrong and accomplishing one of her many dreams, however, she had forgotten about herself. During that period I approached her and mention how proud I was of her for fighting for her dreams, but that she also need to distract herself. All I wanted at that point was for her to feel supported. I didn’t want her to see or noticed or mention anything about her weight gain. She barely went out and had any friends. She separated and excluded herself completely. I couldn’t remember the last time we had gone for a coffee or grab dinner together. That day I called her and invited her to dinner. She immediately said no and gave me a million of excuses who summarized to her gain of weight. She didn’t want anyone of us (her friends) to see her. That really upset me. I love Andrea with all my heart. She has always been there for me. However, at points we have our disagreements. It bothers me how insecure of her appearance she can be. I personally believe that what makes a person valuable is their attitude and their heart not their body. Is hard to see you friend who you admired and respected for being so strong and fighting against her family gender roles fall apart. In conclusion, Andrea has been a very important part of my life. She has been my best friend for many years and know I can count with her for anything. However, her attitude bother me and it makes me get angry at her. The feeling might not last long because when someone really cared about someone else the anger doesn’t last long. All I want is to see her happy and accomplish. Though nursing is not for everyone, I believe I have the qualities that are vital for individuals to work in a dynamic environment. It is not only essential to describe why I have chosen to pursue this field, but why I believe I have what it entails to perform above and beyond the demanding and challenging tasks that are necessary in this profession. Knowing there are many different routes to decide in pursuing the profession of a registered nurse, I have taken careful consideration into my options. I am certain that pursuing a baccalaureate degree will suit my wants and needs better than any other option. I believe the baccalaureate degree will absolutely fulfill my need of a challenging and dynamic school environment. I also am certain that it will enable to me grow as a person in every way and enable to me to become a positive asset to anywhere I am fortunate enough to work. It will also enable and empower me to move forward in a nursing career. After obtaining a baccalaureate degree, I plan on obtaining a master's degree in nursing and then furthering on to achieving a license to practice as a nurse practitioner. I plan to do this to open of my doors of opportunity and be able to use my acquired and fortified skills in different ways with more responsibility. Before one can successfully perform the duties as a nurse, I know that it is an absolute necessity to acquire new skills, and strengthen old ones to sufficiently perform the duties of a registered nurse. These skills need to be obtained from an excellent school with an enriched environment of different tasks. I am certain that I have what is needed to succeed in an exigent but stimulating environment. I possess excellent time management skills and am able to multi task in a wide-range of assignments. I use my time budgeting abilit y to successfully balance a Part -time schedule of wo rk and a full-time schedule of high school as well as college . I am able to manage the two on a month to month basis without letting the stress of work interfere with the stress of school and vice versa. Not only does ba lancing school and work require an individual to possess time management skills, it is essential that one must also able to tackle a large workload in a timely fas hion, and without too much difficulty. I definitely possess that quality to be able to tackle any workload that comes in my path. I do not and will not let any obstacle that comes my way stop me from doing so. In addition to tackling large workloads, to be a successful student, especially for nursing, I believe it is imperative to have the proper social skills to coherently and positively interact with peers, students, co-workers and faculty. I love interacting with people at school and work, and I take pride in my ability to effectively communicate with others. I also believe that being able to cope with changes in a dynamic and vigorous environment, with a receptive view in being open to new ideas every day is also crucial in being a successful student. I exhibit this quality as well and am always open to learning new things. In essence, I am absolutely certain that nursing is the career that I want to pursue. It will quench my thirst to help others, and to help improve individual's lives. I am with no doubt confident that I have the qualities that are needed to not only be a successful student in nursing school, but to be an excellent asset as a practicing nurse.
